Dockerizing Maven Web Application

There are couple of Docker Maven plugins available for free on GitHub.

Building

Add the following under build/plugins section of maven pom file

Add Dockerfile following under project root.

FROM tomcat:9.0-jre8-alpine
COPY target/dockerize-maven-web-app*.war $CATALINA_HOME/webapps/dockerize.war
HEALTHCHECK --interval=1m --timeout=3s CMD wget --quiet --tries=1 --spider http://localhost:8080/dockerize || exit 1
EXPOSE 8080
CMD chmod +x $CATALINA_HOME/bin/catalina.sh
CMD ["catalina.sh", "run"]

Execution

Execute mvn docker:build
